The 3-Day Liquid Detox

Gwyneth Paltrow claims her standard juice detox restores energy.  Salma Hayek has credited her seemingly age defying slim physique to 15 years of juice cleanses. Juicing has even made a splash in professional sports with cyclists swigging back beet juice and fighters cleansing to make weight class.   Even if you are not about to walk the red carpet or enter a home run derby, you too can benefit from a Liquid detox.  But why would you want to put your steak fork down and spend 3 days devoted to juice?  With all the literature, programs and regimes to follow out there it can be quite complicated.  We will fix that.

Enter the 3-Day Liquid Detox

 

A detox presents an opportunity to rest our overloaded digestive organs and release built up toxins. Toxicity occurs when we ingest more than our bodies can utilize and eliminate.  These toxins disturb the balance of the human body, which can wreak havoc on our systems.  Once the process begins, your body will eliminate waste and toxins as you immediately feel your body become lighter and filled with increased energy.

The 3-Day Liquid Plan

(1) Upon wake up: One 8oz glass of water with half a lemon squeezed into it.

(2) Breakfast Fruit / vegetable 24oz Juice: any combination of fruit and vegetables (use the following as your go to ingredients: celery, carrot, kale, cabbage, apple, pineapple, cranberry, beet, spinach and all greens)

Liquid Nutrition in store options: Joy or Pure (substitute honey for stevia)

(3) Snack: Vegetable juice 12oz Juice any combination of vegetables (use the following as your go to ingredients: celery, carrot, kale, cabbage, beet, spinach and all greens)

(4) Lunch: Fruit / vegetable 24oz Juice: any combination of fruit and vegetables (use the following as your go to ingredients: celery, carrot, kale, cabbage, apple, pineapple, cranberry, beet, spinach and all greens)

(6) Dinner: Leafy vegetable salad with fresh squeezed lemon/lime as dressing

 

 

Rules to follow during the Detox:

You may consume fresh fruits and vegetables as you please (chew thoroughly – peel any waxed skin, avoid starchy vegetables)

*6-8 glasses of water per day

*Drink herbal teas and sparkling water as you please

*Avoid: Fats, oils, proteins, sugar, starches/grains, condiments, spices, honey, alcohol, caffeine, drugs

*Exercise – very important to help clear waste through sweating

*Bathing – very important to help cleanse the skin as toxins are released              

*Almost everyone should cleanse and give their body much needed rest and recovery time. We recommend cleansing 2-4 times per year depending on your current diet and condition.  You should not cleanse more than four times per year (or once per season).
